We helped Science World tell a powerful story about skin and inclusion.
The Project
Equity-focused project where we contributed our equity and marketing focused lens to support a world-renowned exhibition that educated visitors on race and inclusion. Additionally, we provided their marketing and creative team with in-depth training on inclusive and accessible visuals and creative, which influenced the promotion of the exhibition.
Our unique approach
Science World, a world-renowned tourist destination in BC, is a charitable non-profit and science centre that engages learners across the province in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art & design and math).
We consulted on their launch of the groundbreaking “Skin: Living Armor, Evolving Identity” exhibition that started in the USA and speaks to the social construct of race. We also developed custom ‘addendums’ that resulted in installation and design of accompanying panels that provided context, accuracy, and further accessibility.
Overall, the exhibition lasted 4 months and was extremely successful and well received.
Deliverables
- Consultation
- Content Development
- In-Depth Training
“Add a quote here from the client if one exists. If there isn’t, we can maybe try getting one from the internal team who was involved in the project who wants to celebrate a success, avoiding only celebrating the client.”

“AndHumanity was tremendously helpful to us here at Science World when we hosted the “Skin: Living Armor, Evolving Identity” exhibition. Our goal was to enhance the content to provide information that was more relevant to our local audience. AndHumanity assisted us by reviewing the existing content panels to highlight areas that might unintentionally be causing harm and to provide suggestions on added phrasing to make the content more relevant and inclusive to a wider audience. Additionally, our Marketing & Brand team at Science World received the Inclusive Visuals training, and it was thoughtful, insightful, and valuable for our team. AndHumanity showed up with openness and expertise, and the interactive workshop opened the door for more meaningful, nuanced discussions afterward. Would recommend working with them on any DEI-related work!”
